The short answer

You cannotsimply courier a box of fresh mangoes from Pakistan to the UK, USA, Canada or anywhere else. Express couriers (DHL, FedEx, UPS, TCS) don’t carry fresh perishable fruit, and customs blocks uncertified fruit at the border. Fresh mangoes only cross borders through licensed commercial export with a phytosanitary certificate and a country-specific treatment. As an individual, your two realistic options are to buy from a local importer/grocer in your country, or to send a gift to family inside Pakistan.

Why you can’t just courier mangoes overseas

Fresh fruit is a perishable, biosecurity-controlled good — not a normal parcel. The couriers people assume they can use simply don’t accept it:

  • DHL Express only accepts temperature-controlled food for destinations reachable within 72 hours — which rules out long Pakistan-to-US/Canada/Australia routes — and warns fresh food may be refused on quarantine grounds.
  • TCS explicitly lists fresh fruits, vegetables and dairy as restricted/prohibited.
  • FedEx prohibits perishable foods, and border agencies (e.g. US Customs & Border Protection) block nearly all fresh fruit on entry.

How Pakistani mangoes are really exported

Commercial export is an institutional process — which is exactly why an individual can’t do it from their kitchen:

  • Registered exporters handle shipments via cold-chain perishable air or sea freight.
  • A phytosanitary certificate from Pakistan’s Department of Plant Protection (DPP), now issued online through the Pakistan Single Window, must accompany each consignment.
  • PHDEC (Pakistan Horticulture Development & Export Company, under the Ministry of Commerce) supports exporters with certification and market access.
  • Most destinations require a quarantine treatment before entry — hot-water treatment for the EU, vapour-heat treatment for Japan, and irradiation for the USA.

Country-by-country: where Pakistani mangoes can go

DestinationStatusKey requirement
United StatesAllowed — strictMust be irradiated to a minimum of 400 gray at an APHIS-certified facility, imported as commercial consignments only (no personal shipments), with a Pakistan NPPO phytosanitary certificate and joint APHIS/Pakistan inspection certifying freedom from mango bacterial black spot.
European UnionAllowed — treatedRequires a phytosanitary certificate and hot-water treatment (HWT) for fruit-fly control, shipped through registered exporters under EU plant-health rules.
United KingdomAllowed — commercial importFresh Pakistani mangoes reach the UK through commercial importers and are widely sold by ethnic grocers in season. Requires phytosanitary certification under UK plant-health rules; individuals cannot post a box themselves.
AustraliaAllowed — treatedPermitted following a formal import risk analysis. Requires mandatory pre-export treatment — vapour-heat, hot-water dipping, or irradiation (min 400 gray) — via approved facilities under current biosecurity (BICON) conditions.
Gulf (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar)Major market — check current GCC rulesThe Gulf is the largest market for Pakistani mangoes. Imports still go through commercial exporters and are subject to GCC/destination phytosanitary requirements — confirm the current season's rules with your importer.
CanadaCheck current CFIA rulesImport requirements should be confirmed directly with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) for the current season — do not assume mangoes enter without certification.

Import rules and treatment protocols change by regulation year and season — always confirm the current requirements with a licensed exporter or the destination country’s plant-health authority before arranging a commercial shipment.

The “send mangoes to Pakistan” gift model — explained

Many overseas Pakistanis search for “send mangoes to the UK/USA/Canada” and find gift services. Important: those services deliver inside Pakistan. You pay from abroad with an international card, and the mangoes are delivered to your family or friends in Pakistan — they are not shipped to your own address overseas. It is a wonderful way to send a seasonal gift home; it is not a way to get mangoes onto your own kitchen table abroad.

What you can do instead

1. Send a gift to loved ones in Pakistan. MMA Farms delivers fresh, carbide-free mango boxes across Pakistan, and you can order and pay from anywhere in the world. Send mangoes to Pakistan →

2. Buy from a local importer abroad. In season, ethnic grocers and importers in the UK, Gulf and elsewhere stock commercially imported Pakistani mangoes — the only legitimate way to get fresh fruit to your own door overseas.

3. Import commercially (businesses). If you’re a business, MMA Farms supports bulk and corporate supply, and exports processed mango pulp (B2B). Mango pulp export → · Corporate & bulk →

Frequently asked questions

Can I send a box of fresh mangoes to someone abroad by courier?+

No. International express couriers do not carry fresh perishable fruit for ordinary shipments. DHL Express only accepts temperature-controlled food for destinations reachable within 72 hours — which rules out long routes from Pakistan to the US, Canada or Australia — and TCS explicitly bars fresh fruit, vegetables and dairy. FedEx prohibits perishable foods, and customs authorities like US CBP block nearly all fresh fruit at the border. Fresh mangoes can only cross borders through licensed commercial export with the correct certificates and treatments.

How are Pakistani mangoes actually exported?+

Through registered commercial exporters, not individuals. Fruit moves via cold-chain perishable air or sea freight, accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate issued by Pakistan's Department of Plant Protection (DPP) — now processed online through the Pakistan Single Window. PHDEC (a government body under the Ministry of Commerce) supports exporters with certification and market access. Most destinations also require a specific quarantine treatment before the fruit can enter.

Why does the USA require special treatment for Pakistani mangoes?+

To control fruit pests. Under the USDA/APHIS rule, fresh Pakistani mangoes must be irradiated to a minimum absorbed dose of 400 gray at an APHIS-certified facility, may enter only as commercial consignments, and each shipment needs a Pakistan NPPO phytosanitary certificate plus joint APHIS/Pakistan inspection certifying the fruit is free of mango bacterial black spot.

Do 'send mangoes to Pakistan' gift services ship to my country?+

No — and this is a common misunderstanding. Services that let overseas Pakistanis order mango gifts deliver to a recipient inside Pakistan. You pay from abroad (international cards accepted) and the mangoes are delivered to your family or friends in Pakistan, not shipped to your own address overseas.

So what can I actually do to get Pakistani mangoes abroad?+

Two realistic options. (1) Buy from a local importer or ethnic grocer in your country that has already imported Pakistani mangoes commercially and in season. (2) Send a mango gift to loved ones in Pakistan — MMA Farms delivers fresh boxes nationwide across Pakistan, paid for from anywhere in the world. For businesses, commercial bulk import is a third route, and MMA Farms also exports processed mango pulp (B2B).
